About

Hi. I’m Marina.

I am a lifelong unschooler, by which I mean throughout my life it has never been mandatory that I learn in a specific method or setting. Some of the ways and places I learned stuff as a child and young adult included reading, thinking, discussion with friends and family and adult mentors, homeschooling groups, “afterschool” classes, working, entrepreneurship, occasional stints at full time school, community college, and four-year college. No one has ever asked to see my high school diploma or GPA. I work at a nonprofit, which most of the time I really love.

I’m married to another lifelong unschooler, Z, who is currently a stay-at-home dad and anatomy geek. We have two kids, R, who was born at the end of 2011, and E, who was born mid-2014. R is unschooling her way through walking, talking, and investigating mechanical physics, and E’s current primary passion is trying to get all his fingers in his mouth at once.

I love debating and persuasive writing, and I promise to try my hardest to not insult anybody, even accidentally, and not take anything personally. Please let me know if anything I say hurts you and I will apologize, or let me know if you think I’m wrong about something and I’ll cheerfully tell you why I’m right until you convince me otherwise.
